It applies to so <i>much</i> – for instance, the idea that there is <i>no</i> way to travel between the Nine Realms without the Bifrost.<br /><br />But how could one say those Realms are found amidst the branches of Yggdrasil, and then forget that those branches themselves can be traveled? Falling from Asgard is dangerous – but there are other branches, lower down, and Loki has never been afraid of falling from a tree.<br /><br />He's even done it on purpose, once or twice, before this latest fall. So he knows what to expect: a star-ridden darkness, the knots and whorls of the World Tree beside him, a door –<br /><br />A door?<br /><br /><i>That's</i> different.<br /><br />Moreover, it's falling <i>with</i> him, at least for the moment.<br /><br />Will that last?<br /><br />Does he have time to stop and consider whether or not this is safe?<br /><br />Is <i>anything</i> safe, now?<br /><br /><i>No.</i><br /><br />Loki stretches forth his hand – the hand that has so recently let go of his father's spear – and, in opening the door, falls through it.<br /><br /><img src="https://www.dreamwidth.org/tools/commentcount?user=anotherstolenrelic&ditemid=530" width="30" height="12" alt="comment count unavailable" style="vertical-align: middle;"/> comments https://anotherstolenrelic.dreamwidth.org/530.html public 0
